Gemco History

Since its incorporation, Gemco Rail has grown from a wagon wheel set and bogie repair contractor, to a major nationwide provider of wagon maintenance, wagon manufacture, and supplier of rolling stock components and rail maintenance equipment.

The business employed 28 staff in 1997 with an annual turnover of $5 million.

In 2001 Gemco opened its custom built Marshalling Yard in Forrestfield, in 2006 a second office and manufacturing facility with direct access to rail networks was opened across the road.

Gemco Rail became part of the Coote Industrial Group in July 2007, along with its subsidiary company Railway Bearings Refurbishment Services Pty Ltd.

Today, Gemco Rail boasts one of the most modern and efficient rolling stock maintenance facilities within Australia, employing 250 full time staff across 5 states and with an annual turnover approaching $100 million.
